Already??
Well Hello, Mommy! Malia turned 7 months old a few days ago. I seriously can’t believe it’s been that long! On one hand, it feels like she just got here and should still be a newborn. But, on the other hand, it’s so hard to remember what life was like before her. It feels like she’s been with us forever.
She is growing and learning every single day. She recently started army crawling, and is trying SO hard to get her knees underneath her and start for-real crawling. Lord, help me once this kiddo becomes mobile… I’m never going to sit down again! She’s so smart (what parent doesn’t think there kid is a genius every now and then?) and curious about everything.
7 Months Old
I really should get a scale so I can document her weight… but whatever. At her 6 month doctor’s appointment she weight about 16.5 lbs… so she’s more than that.
She is wearing 6, 6-9, and 9 month clothes and size 3 diapers!
*side note- Malia’s whole life, she has been ‘on track’ with clothing sizes. She fit into 3 month clothes at 3 months… 6 months at 6 months… you get the picture. However, at all her appointments, Malia has been pretty consistently in the 30th percentile in height, and always under the 50th percentile in weight. Which makes me wonder, if my kid is on the smaller size and is fitting into the clothing sizes that actually correlate with her age…. Why are baby clothes not sized larger to correlate with the average size baby? Maybe we are just preparing babies for the inconsistency of sizing in adult clothing. (Kidding. Obviously.)
She loves…
- Milk. First and foremost… always
- Watching the Little Baby Bum show on Netflix. Seriously, it’s her favorite. As soon as the little twinkle at the beginning of the episode happens, she’s entranced. I highly recommend it if you are looking for something for your little one to watch! Just be warned… you will get all 15 versions of The Wheels on the Bus stuck in your head. All. The. Time.
- Eating! She has enjoyed pretty much everything she’s been given. She’s also starting to reach for everything on our plates, so finger foods, here we come!
She hates…
- Going to sleep. She takes pretty decent naps, but getting her to sleep can be a struggle. She fights it like it’s her job.
- The NoseFrida. Baby girl has been sick the last week or so with such a snotty nose. The NoseFrida is an amazing device for sucking snot. Definitely something I will be buying as a shower gift for future mamas. But of course, Malia thinks we are torturing her and acts like it’s an exorcism.
- Being alone. We’ve kind of started the whole separation anxiety stage…
I’m going to write a post covering my pregnancy and delivery soon… and hope that my mom-brain hasn’t eroded all the details.
